Wednesday, April 26

Celebrations of International Jazz Month kick off with the UKZN Jazz Staff and Alumni Concert on Wednesday, 26 April at 17:30. Tickets cost R100. Pensioner tickets are R70, and student tickets are R40. For booking, email zamat1@ukzn.ac.za.

Thursday, April 27

Songs of Freedom will follow the UKZN Jazz Staff and Alumni Concert at 15:00 at the Howard College Theatre. Songs of Freedom features five piano and vocal duets, namely Neil Gonsalves and Natalie Rungan; Andile Yenana and Kwena Ramahuta; Debbie Mari and Melvin Peters; Thulile Zama and David Smith, fondly known by their duo name, N’den; Zoe The Seed and Zibusiso Makhathini. Tickets cost R150, pensioner tickets are R100 and student tickets are R50. Booking is essential – email zamat1@ukzn.ac.za.

Youth music groups and ensembles from across the province will gather at Fig Tree Farm in Hillcrest for a day of music, fun, picnics and the spirit of Ubuntu in KwaZulu-Natal’s warm autumn sunshine. Bring picnic baskets and blankets, or sample some of the delicious food and drinks on offer at the venue. Tickets are available from www.quicket.co.za at R150 for adults and R100 for students and pensioners.

The Waterfall Methodist Church will be holding space for their local vendors to sell their goods and promote themselves while raising funds at their upcoming market. Friday, April 28
The Night Feast Market takes place at Legacy Yard from 18:00 to 22:00 at Umhlanga Arch. Delicious street-food vendors, crafts, live music and much more will feature. Entrance is free. Vendor applications should be sent to themorningtrade@gmail.com. Call 064 809 2066  for more information.
Saturday, April 29

The Highway Art Group will meet on Saturday, April 29 at 09:30 at the Westville Methodist Church. Josee Clerk will be doing a demonstration in mixed media using charcoal and acrylic paint. Non-members are welcome. Contact Irma on 082 338 8876.

Sunday, April 30

The Canine Carnival in aid of SAFE and SerendiPitty takes place at Northlands Girls’ High from 10:00 to 15:00. There will be lots of stalls to buy from, live entertainment from Glo Mapenzi and Angie Kittle, a craft beer and gin garden, amazing food vendors and fantastic games for the children and adults. The event will be fun for the whole family, including furry friends, as long as they are social and on a lead. The entrance fee for the event is R50, and children under 12 enter for free. The first 50 guests (one per family) will receive a goodie bag. There will also be fun activities to take part in, with spot prizes up for grabs.
