Warm up and upskill around the campfire

It's a perfect way to kick off the cooler autumn season.

BEING parents to young children means you often hear the words, “I’m bored,” and there are only certain activities that can keep them entertained, sometimes only for a short while.

That’s where the 57th Durban Trafalgar Sea Scout group comes in. Not only will your children be entertained but they will learn valuable skills, which they can use throughout their lives.

The group has a Campfire Night planned for Friday, March 31, at the Scout Hall at 20 Hinton Grove, which is the relaunch of the Scout Troop – open to boys and girls aged 11–17 years.

The event starts at 18:00. Take along your own chairs.

Speaking about the club, Carryn Smith said the 57th Durban Trafalgar Sea Scout group started in 1957 and was named after the Battle of Trafalgar.

“Since its inception, it has produced 25 Springbok Scouts. The Springbok is the highest award that a Scout can achieve,” she said.

“The outgoing Scouter, Wally Muller, dedicated 40 years to scouting, many of them as the Troop Scouter at 57th Durban Trafalgar. At our Campfire Night, we are going to re-launch, as well as introduce our newest branch, the Meerkats, for children aged between five and six years. Our Cubs, aged seven to 11, together with the 1st Glenashley Scout Group, will be leading everyone in songs and stories around the Scouting Campfire,” she added.

To attend, call Smith on 076 528 5205.
