North Durban organisation searches for ‘furever’ homes for animals

The organisation is looking for forever homes for 40 dogs and numerous cats.

CUTENESS overload is an understatement when it comes to the gorgeous dogs the Phoenix Animal Care Treatment (PACT) has available for adoption.

Established in March 2012, PACT has rescued, rehabilitated, sterilised, fed, rehomed, and taken care of thousands of animals. The challenge of finding homes for the rescued cats and dogs continues to date.

Neeri Naidoo, founder of the organisation, which feeds over 600 animals on a daily basis, also has 40 dogs and many cats looking for loving families to open up their hearts and homes to them.

“We’ve decided to hold adoption days every Saturday at the Whalebone Pier in uMhlanga. This is where families and individuals can come meet our gorgeous fur babies and hopefully adopt them,” she said.

Each dog has a story as to how they came into PACT’s care, which adds to each of their unique characters.

Titan, for example, was displaced during the unrest in July, and for this reason, his needs are specific.

At first, he was traumatised and scared. He needs a home with high walls and an agile family. He is a beautiful dog who is friendly towards other dogs and children.

Sasha was rescued from being used as a puppy-mill mom.

“She had litters upon litters of pups, and both her and her pups were severely neglected. She has the most gentle temperament, and did we mention that she loves basking in the rays of the sun?” said Naidoo.

“There are so many special boys and girls, like Titan and Sasha, that are waiting to go to a new home. We urge the community to come and support our adoption days,” she added.

If you are unable to attend the adoption days, email pactadoptions@gmail.com or call 061 706 1119.

PACT is also celebrating their 11th anniversary this year.

You can sip, paint, dine, dance and save lives at the Raddison Blu Hotel on March 25. Tickets cost R500 per person and include a complimentary drink, painting, dinner and dance.
