“The Electricity Department is aware of the massive outage due to a circuit trip at Klaarwater Major Substation, and teams are en route to rectify.”
In October last year, an explosion at the 275 Klaarwater Major Substation caused a widespread power outage to about 50% of the city.
Today’s outage happens as the City is preparing to host the eThekwini Energy Transformation Summit at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre on March 1 and 2. Several experts in the field are expected to discuss the current energy challenges facing South Africa.
