One suspect killed, two arrested after armed robbery on Prince Mhlangana Road

A replica gun was also recovered at the scene by the police.

A SUSPECTED armed robber has been shot dead, while two of his accomplices have been arrested in an incident that ended on Old North Coast Road on Wednesday morning.

According to the Marshall Security spokesperson, Tyron Powell, the gang had robbed a pedestrian at gunpoint on Prince Mhlangana Road just after 10:00.

“Response officers and members of our Special Operations Team were dispatched to the scene to search for the wanted suspects. A few moments later, one of our officers noticed members of the Greenwood Park SAPS chasing the wanted suspects on Old North Coast Road and immediately assisted,” he explained.

According to Powell, the suspects then fled into a nearby dense bush, and the SAPS called the Durban K9 Unit for assistance.

“A short while later, the Durban K9 Unit arrived on scene and entered the bush in search of the suspects. One suspect exited the bush and attempted to flee by getting into a taxi. Our officer immediately reacted and apprehended the suspect. The Durban K9 Unit continued to search for the other two suspects, and during the search, one suspect was shot dead and the third suspect was arrested by the Durban K9 Unit,” he said.

Powell added that a replica firearm was recovered on scene.
