Support North Durban Lions Club’s Christmas cake sale

The 1kg cakes are already in a box and contain no alcohol.

SINCE 1975, Lions Clubs throughout the country have sold Lions Christmas Cakes to raise funds to finance projects in their communities.

This tradition has continued to this day for the North Durban Lions Club who are also selling the cakes in an effort to give back to the projects they’ve invested in.

Avril Hobbs from the club said the sale of the Christmas Cakes was not only a way to raise awareness on the organisation, it was also about putting community service at the heart of what they do.

“The delicious 1kg cakes are already in a box and contain no alcohol. The cakes happen to be made in Durban, but they’re shipped throughout the country. There is no alcohol in the cake, but many people opt to add their own alcohol to the cakes. You can buy a cake and keep it in your cupboard until Christmas. We have limited stock available, but we also hope residents and visitors will support our initiative,” she said.

Hobbs said the club had 40 cases of the cakes but were selling out fast.

The club also runs a monthly food parcels initiative as well as a diabetes awareness campaign.

The cakes, which cost R150, will be sold through the North Durban Lions website and Facebook page. For more information, call Avril Hobbs at 082 772 3654.
