Suspect robs victim with replica gun in Kenville

The suspect was found with the stolen item in his possession.

A SUSPECT was arrested after robbing a pedestrian of his cellphone in Kenville on Wednesday.

The suspect and his accomplice had robbed the victim using a replica gun on Kew Road just after 09:15.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, said a patrol vehicle in the area was flagged down by the victim.

“The victim informed our armed response office that the suspects were still walking along Kew Road. Our officer spotted the suspects and immediately one of arrested them. Unfortunately, the second suspect, managed to evade arrest. Upon searching the suspect a replica firearm and the cellphone belonging to the armed robbery victim was found in his possession,” he said.

Powell added the Greenwood SAPS took the suspect into custody and he is facing charges of armed robbery.
