Support furry friends at PACT Christmas extravaganza

The event, a fundraiser for the non-profit organisation (NPO), will be hosted at the North Durban Lions Club.

CHRISTMAS is a time for giving back, and Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment (PACT) hope to do just that when they host their Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday, December 10.

The event, a fundraiser for the non-profit organisation (NPO), will be hosted at the North Durban Lions Club. It starts at 09:00 and runs all the way to after sundown with a movie night and picnic.

PACT helps provide a better quality of life for homeless, neglected and abused animals in the Phoenix area.
One of the local residents supporting the fundraiser is Dheshni Moodley, who has been a volunteer for PACT for the past 10 years.

“I’ve always loved animals, and my father served as my inspiration to help out any animal in distress. When I was younger, he would rescue animals all the time, and as a family, we would help rescue, rehome and sterilise animals to give them a better life. That love and passion continued to this day, and as a volunteer for PACT, I’ve continued doing my part for the animals.

“We are encouraging residents and visitors to come out and support us on the day and learn more about what we do. At the moment, we are struggling with our vet bills which we are raising funds to pay off. We also hope to use the funds for the running of our daily duties,” she said.

Moodley added that she was inspired by PACT founder and fellow animal rescuer, Neeri Naidoo.

“She is selfless and always puts the animals first. She inspires me to be a better person every day, and I think we can all follow her example,” she explained.

Moodley said the organisation’s extravaganza will have a flea market, food stalls, prizes to be won, a dog adoption corner as well as a movie and picnic night.
