WATCH: Northlands Girls’ learner wins top SPAR prize

The Grade Eight learner won a R5 000 voucher from SPAR as well as a hamper.

NORTHLANDS Girls’ High School learner Lamia Moola was named the overall winner (high schools) in KwaZulu-Natal for the SPAR Superstar competition.

The Grade Eight learner won a R5 000 voucher from SPAR as well as a hamper.

Lamia was chosen for her achievements in netball, notably being selected for the KZN U14 action netball team, the Gilbert Stars netball team and the Umlazi Outdoor Netball Team.

The talented youngster also hopes to one day represent her country on an international stage and looks up to SPAR Protea netball players Bongi Msomi and Precious Mthembu.

Business Manager for Caxton Community Newspapers Durban, Nicole Vosser, said the SPAR Superstar competition was a way to give children a platform to shine.

“As community newspapers, we need to showcase more of what our children are doing because they are the future. Through our sponsorship with SPAR KZN, we have a wonderful opportunity to highlight learners’ talents and showcase them to the community at large,” Vosser said.

Her words were echoed by SPAR KwaZulu-Natal’s advertising and sponsorship manager, Nozipho Mkhize.

“We are so excited to be giving back to such a wonderful, down-to-earth young woman. She has a bright future ahead of her, and we chose her for her achievements as well as for being an all-rounder in academics. As SPAR KZN, we are passionate about women and children, and we want to nourish talent. We hope to see her wearing the SPAR Protea green-and-gold in the not-so-distant future. Well done to Lamia – we hope you enjoy your deserved prize,” Mkhize said.
