Security guard stabbed in attempted robbery in Effingham Heights

The suspect attempted to steal a cellphone and wallet from the guard.

A SECURITY guard was stabbed by an armed suspect in an attempted robbery on Desai Crescent in Effingham Heights on Sunday morning.

Sanveer Sooklall, spokesperson for Swift Private Security, said the guard was patrolling on foot when he spotted the suspect between two homes.

“When the security officer questioned the suspect, he pulled out a knife and attempted to rob the security guard of his cellphone and wallet. The security guard tried to defend himself but was unfortunately stabbed in the altercation.

“Without taking anything, the suspect fled the scene towards Ramchand Road. The guard was immediately transported to hospital for further treatment. We would like to wish him a speedy recovery,” he said.
