Mount Edgecombe singer nominated for gospel awards

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Mount Edgecombe’s Adrian Sing for bagging two nominations for the 2022 Crown Gospel Music Awards.

The award-winning gospel artist is nominated for Best Praise Song for his song Siyakukhonza and Best Music Video for Joy at this year’s awards taking place at the Durban ICC on November 27.

Sitting in his office at his beautiful  Mount Edgecombe home, the star spoke to Northglen News about his journey in the music industry and his recent nominations.

“It’s a complete honour to be nominated again with such great musicians. I entered three of the awards; I didn’t get the first one, and I was really disappointed. I was with my wife and kids when the results for the second and third awards came out, and I just jumped off my chair,” said Sing.

Asked where he draws his inspiration from, he said from his fellow friend and gospel artist, Ayanda Ntanzi.

“Ayanda is one of the most humble musicians in our country. I draw a lot of inspiration from him because he’s a phenomenal person. He is not just a musician but a qualified lawyer, too,” he said.

Sing is no stranger to being nominated for awards. The gospel star got nominated for the Best Gospel Rock award for his song, All The Glory and Best Gospel Songwriter for The Lord Will Never Fail Me in 2016. He bagged the Best Gospel Rock award, just a year into his music career.

The Rhema Church Durban pastor said upcoming artists need to work hard in order to make it in the music industry.

“I would say they [artists] just need to keep on working hard because working hard will always beat talent, no matter how long it takes. You must believe in yourself as a product because if you don’t believe in your own product, why would somebody else believe in it?” he said.

He said he owes all his achievements to God and the support of his wife, kids, his parents and his church.
