Burglar arrested after foot chase in Durban North

The suspect is a known criminal in the Durban North area and has been arrested multiple times before, and had just recently been released from jail.

MARSHALL Security have arrested a suspect for allegedly stealing electrical cables from a vacant property in Durban North.

Marshall Security Spokesperson Tyron Powell said the Marshall Security Dispatch Centre received a call from a client on Kenneth Kaunda Road (Northway) who stated that their gardener had spotted the suspect breaking into a vacant house.

“Multiple Armed Response Officers were dispatched and arrived on the scene within minutes. As they arrived on scene, the suspect was seen fleeing from the property and after a short foot chase he was arrested on Belgrave Crescent with the stolen electrical cables in his possession.

“The Durban North SAPS arrived on scene a short while later where the suspect together with the stolen items was taken to the police station for further processing and will be charged with housebreaking and theft,” said Tyron.

He said the suspect is a known criminal in the Durban North area and has been arrested multiple times before, and had just recently been released from jail.
