Local resident Michelle Manicum and coordinator for Cupcakes of Hope at Gateway said the day was a resounding success.

THOUSANDS of colourful, sumptuous cupcakes, dedicated volunteers and a milestone were the order of day on Saturday as non-profit company (NPC) Cupcakes of Hope celebrated its 10th birthday.

Fundraisers were held at shopping centres across the country, including Gateway Theatre of Shopping.

Local resident Michelle Manicum and coordinator for Cupcakes of Hope at Gateway said the day was a resounding success.

“I’ve been involved since inception, and to celebrate this milestone 10th birthday makes the day even sweeter. I’ve seen the event grow from strength to strength year on year. We have an amazing group of volunteers and bakers who donated their time and their delicious cupcakes to make a difference.

“Everything is made with love, and we are so grateful to everyone who supported us on the day. Cupcakes of Hope’s aim is to raise awareness and funds for families in need of medical assistance, and they now financially assist more than 220 patients every month,” Manicum said.

Speaking on the day, Manicum praised all those who supported the initiative.

“As has been the case every year, we sold out with more than 2 500 cupcakes sold to the general public for the fundraiser,” she said. “This would not have been possible without the support of our amazing volunteers and those who bought something. We have to say a massive thank you for their continuous support,” she said.
