GALLERY: Volunteers paint and garden for Nelson Mandela Day in Durban North
A group of volunteers will spend the day painting and removing alien invasive weeds for Mandela Day.
THE Greenwood Park Community Policing Forum Youth Desk decided to add some cheer to the paediatric section of Redhill Clinic as part of their Nelson Mandela Day initiative.
Ashlin Ellan, chairperson for the Youth Desk, told Northglen News that the forum’s intention was to upgrade and beautify public spaces that were in need of some TLC.
“We decided to paint children’s murals on the walls in the kiddies corner in the hope that it will make a sick child feel better when he or she goes to the clinic for treatment,” said Ellan.

Painting and gardening was also the aim of the game at Action in Autism in Park Hill on Monday.
Acting director for Action in Autism, Liza Aziz, said work began on Saturday when a group of individuals called the Dream Team started removing the weeds.
“Today (Mandela Day), more volunteers have joined, and we will continue with this. We are also painting four classrooms that needed a fresh coat,” she said.
