Hyper by the Sea post office to permanently close its doors

Staff and equipment from this branch will be moved to the Durban North post office.

SOUTH African Post Office (Sapo) spokesperson Johan Kruger has confirmed that Hyper By The Sea post office will close its doors permanently on July 25.

The post office has been based at the Pick ‘n Pay Hyper in Durban North for more than 10 years and will now merge with the Durban North post office.

“I can confirm the post office will be closing on Monday, July 25. The rental contract has come to an end. We would have liked to have kept the branch open due to its popularity. We received many compliments for our customer service at the Hyper by the Sea branch, and I’m confident we will offer the same kind of service at the Durban North branch,” he said.

Kruger said the staff and equipment for car licence renewals will be moved to that branch situated on St Andrew‘s Drive.

This is not the first time the post office has closed its doors. In November last year, the branch closed its doors, much to the disappointment of local residents.

However, just weeks later, negotiations with the landlord to renew the lease contract were successful, and the branch was reopened.
