ARMED robbers, pretending to be passengers, hijacked and assaulted an e-hailing driver at gunpoint in Mysore Road, Sea Cow Lake on Wednesday.

Marshall Security officers responded and found out that the driver was ‘set up’ and assaulted with a firearm on his head before he fled.
“The number of suspects involved is unknown. They assaulted him with a firearm on his head and fired shots in the air. They then hijacked his vehicle and fled,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.
A resident from the area informed responding officers that the driver of the hijacked vehicle drove it into a nearby informal settlement.
Accompanied by the Durban Flying Squad, the vehicle was found abandoned and already stripped.
The scene was handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing.
