FOUR suspects, who robbed a teenager of his skateboard and cellphone in Durban North earlier this year, were arrested in Umhlanga last week.
“Last Thursday, our members spotted the same vehicle used in the robbery, with the same number plates, travelling on Lighthouse Road. With assistance from Durban North SAPS, the vehicle was stopped, and four suspects were arrested,” said Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell.

The suspects, as well as the wanted vehicle, were handed over to the Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing.
The incident dates back to March 30 when a teenager, who was skateboarding in Landsdowne Crescent in Durban North, was approached by three people in a car, who stopped to ask him if they could borrow his cellphone to make a call.
According to Powell, the teenager handed his phone over to one of the suspects who then pretended to make a call.
“Another suspect exited the vehicle and forcefully removed the teenager’s skateboard before fleeing towards Beachway. After searching the area, the vehicle could not be located. A case of theft was then registered at the Durban North police station,” said Powell.
