Top flicks to watch this Friday the 13th

For some, the day is about superstitions, for others it's about watching scary movies.

IT’S Friday the 13th.

While the superstitious bunch will be avoiding walking under ladders, black cats crossing their paths and opening umbrellas indoors, others may be looking for some super scary, horror movies to watch.

According to idbm.com here are the top five horror movies to watch in South Africa, in order of popularity, but by all means feel free to throw in Friday the 13th or Freddy vs Jason for old time’s sake.

1. Escape Room: Tournament of Champions

Released in 2021, this horror, action, adventure sees six people in a locked room, slowly discovering what they have in common to survive. The movies stars Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll and Thomas Cocquerel.

2. Escape Room

This is part 1 to Escape Room: Tournament of Champions where six strangers find themselves in a maze of deadly mystery rooms and must rely on their wits to survive.

3. The Empty Man (2020)

The horror, mystery, thriller tells the tale of a former policeman who discovers a secretive group attempting to summon a terrifying supernatural entity, while on the trail of a missing girl.

4. Spell

Imagine crashing in rural Appalachia and waking in the attic of a traditional Hoodoo practitioner. Watch how the man tries to escape the dark magic and save his family from a sinister ritual in this horror and thriller.

5. Gaia (2021)

Two off-grid survivalists rescue an injured forest ranger. It all seems to be going well until the father and son reveal a cultish devotion to the forest.
