Treat mom to a musical Mother’s Day

THE KZN Youth Orchestra will play at the Durban Botanic Gardens this Mother’s Day, Sunday May 8.

The concert takes place at the amphitheater from 11:00 to and 13:00.

The KZN Youth Orchestra is a proactive group of young musicians between the ages of seven and 23 from around the province who participate in a classical orchestral environment and so demonstrate their aspirations for musical excellence.

The orchestra typically is 50 musicians strong, consisting of young musicians who are all learners and take music as an additional subject at school or who take music as an extra mural activity.

They come from varied backgrounds and music traditions. The orchestra’s criteria are that they audition every year, have a minimum Grade 3 classical music certification for potential inclusion in the shadow orchestra. A minimum of Grade 5 is required for the main orchestra.

Tickets cost R100 per person or R75 for scholars and pensioners.
