Making a positive change is the uMhlanga woman’s aim

Although the Wellness Centre Trust successfully runs numerous programmes to develop people in destitute communities in Durban, she wants to expand her reach and make a positive change, nationally.

AN uMhlanga mom is hoping to bring home the title of Mrs South Africa this year and to use it to be the voice for the voiceless.

Eloise Briggeman, who is among the semi-finalists, told Northglen News this was her first time entering the pageant.

“Mrs South Africa is more than a beauty pageant. It’s about networking, community work and business too,” she said.

She decided to enter after she watched a webinar hosted by Margaret Hirsch, who encouraged women to enter.

Now, Briggeman is waiting for July 1 to hear if she’s made it to the top 25.

The mother of two, is the CEO of the Wellness Centre Trust, which helps the homeless and destitute, by upskilling them to lead sustainable lives.

“I’ve worked with adults and children in need but as a mom, my heart is very close to the children. There is so much need out there. We have to uplift and empower the next generation too,” she said.

“There’s so much more that can be done and if I win the title, I know I can make a more impactful change,” she said.

One of her visions, is a homework centre for children who have no adult supervision after school.

“We need to create a safe space for our children,” she said.

When she’s not busy running a business, a non-profit organisation and being a mom and wife, Briggeman enjoys the outdoors and reading.

“I love swimming and running. I’m a health fanatic. My family and I also love travelling.” she said.
