Clean up Blue Lagoon set for this Saturday

If you can't attend, zap the organsiers some cash and they'll arrange for an unemployed person to attend on your behalf.

THIS month’s Clean Blue Lagoon event takes place on Saturday, March 19.

Eco-warriors are asked to attend the clean-up at the Beachwood Mangroves from 08:00 to 11:00.

Black bags will be provided and social distancing will be required.

“Don’t worry, there is enough beach, plastic and litter to go around,” said organiser, Denise McCreadie.

“All Covid-19 protocol will be adhered to, so no mask no entry,” she added.

There are two routes supporters can take. The shorter way will entail crossing over a section of the river. “We do have gumboots to help cross the river but please choose your shoes accordingly” she said.

Those attending are asked to carry gloves, a hat, water, sunscreen, mask. “Bring all your family and friends along,” said McCreadie.

If you can’t attend, but you still want to be an eco-warrior and save the ocean, the team can arrange for an unemployed person to attend on your behalf.

“All you need to do is to zap us some wage money and we will set it up for you. More details can be found on the Clean Blue Lagoon Facebook group,” she said.
