Be part of St Patrick’s Day celebrations

St Patrick's Day which unleashes celebrations around the globe is commemorated on March 17 each year.

THE countdown is well underway to St Patrick’s Day. St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and is commemorated on March 17 each year, known as St Patrick’s Day, a public holiday on the island of Ireland.

“St Patrick’s Day unleashes celebrations around the globe, sometimes for several days,” said Ray McNulty, president of the KZN Chapter of the Irish South African Association (ISAA).

This year’s lunch at the Westville Country Club on Saturday March, 19 will be a special celebration for the ISAA.

“It is the first time that the association has been able to get together for St Patrick’s Day since 2019 due to Covid-19 restrictions. It also marks the 10th anniversary of the ISAA in KZN and the 10th anniversary of its support for the Westville-based KZN Academy of Celtic Dance,” said McNultry.

He added that they were excited to see how the energy of Irish dancing reaches across cultures to everyone in South Africa.

KZN Academy of Celtic Dance students regularly perform at ISAA events and will demonstrate their skills at the ISAA St Patrick’s Day event in Westville.

“We invite everyone to join them in marking this special day. We welcome everyone who enjoys the company of Irish people or even who would like to be honorary Irish for the day to join our festivities,” he said.
