Attempted murder case opened after uMhlanga shooting

The motive for the shooting which took place on McCausland Crescent is unknown.

A CASE of attempted murder was opened at Durban North SAPS on Sunday after a woman was shot on McCausland Crescent in uMhlanga on Sunday morning (27 February).

Provincial SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, said police responded to the incident at 01:30.

According to reports, the woman sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest and was rushed through to a nearby hospital.

“Police responded to a report of a shooting in uMhlanga. A 25-year-old victim had been rushed to hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest. The suspects fled the scene in their getaway vehicle. A case of attempted murder was opened at Durban North SAPS for investigation,” Gwala said.

A 25-year-old suspect was later arrested, however, the motive for the shooting is unknown confirmed Gwala.

His firearm was also seized by police. He is due to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court this week.
