Durban North women to join and unite in prayer

Prayer manuscripts written by churches in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland are available from Garvie at the Durban North Methodist Church on 3 Swapo Road, Durban North.

AT the beginning of March each year, Christian women around the world unite for 24 hours in prayer for Women’s World Day of Prayer. Sylvia Garvie from Durban North Methodist Church is calling on all women around Durban to get involved in this year’s event.

This year, the women in Durban North will come together at the Parish of the Blessed Sacrament in Newport Avenue, Virginia on March 4 at 10:00.

Garvie said 13 other churches in Durban North will also join the prayer event.

“Just imagine, people praying the same service all around the world over 24 hours, taking into account all the different time zones.” “There are usually about 150 women that attend. This year we would like to see more,” said Garvie.

Last year’s service was held online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so Garvie is waiting in much excitement for this year’s prayer event.

“Those who are unable to attend the church service but would like to still pray at home, either alone or with family and friends, are welcome to collect prayer booklets from the church,” she said.

For more information or to join on the day, call Sylvia on 083 658 7145.
