‘Get your Covid-19 booster shot now’ urges Durban North pharmacist

Pharmacist Nadia Khan has continued to dispel pervasive myths about the efficacy of the vaccines and how they work.

DURBAN North Pharmacy manager, Nadia Khan has encouraged residents who are eligible to get their booster vaccine shot to do so.

In December, the Department of Health approved the administering of the third dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine and the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) booster shot for adults and the immunocompromised.

The pharmacy is one of the sites in the Durban North area where residents can get their Pfizer vaccinations.

“We’ve had a great response from the north Durban and greater Durban community. We’ve also had to dispel anti-vaccination myths and convince vaccine hesitant people that these vaccines are safe and effective. Getting a vaccine will protect you and your loved ones from a devastating illness and hospitalisation,” she said.

Khan added the emergence of the highly transmissible Omicron variant now made it necessary for residents to protect themselves and others.

“As the Covid-19 variants emerge, scientific research has shown that booster vaccination, with the J&J or Pfizer vaccine, is a reliable and safe way to protect yourself and others,” she said.
