“This album is a multifaceted vessel and sonic document that archives some of the sounds people have used and continue to use as a testimony of their social conditions,” said Mashiloane.

The 12-track jazz album echoes many rhythmic languages, multi-generational camaraderie in sound, and is an exploration into self-identity.

A number of industry stalwarts feature in his latest work, such as percussionist, Tlale Makhene; guitarist, Bheki Khoza; and tenor saxophone player, Khaya Mahlangu.

He also features young talent, some of whom have studied under his supervision. These include the bassist, Qhubekanu Mthethwa; trumpet player, Thabo Sikhakhane; and vocalist, Wandithanda Makandula.

The album releases on all digital platforms on January 24 and hard copies will be on sale at all concerts for R150 each.
