ON Friday morning, matriculants received their National Senior Certificate (NSC) results at their respective schools and the Class of 2021 can now breathe a sigh of relief.
There was a buzz of excitement when the Northglen News arrived at Northlands Girls’ High School, which obtained a 98.3% pass rate and and 91.2% Bachelor’s Degree pass.
“The last two years have been difficult. The matric class of 2021 wrote trial exams in excess of two hours for the first time during the trial exams, due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said the school’s principal, Theven Reddy.
He added that he was proud of the girls as they had produced an excellent set of results.
“Through a lot of hard work and dedication from the learners and the educators, we managed to achieved this. We wish the matriculants the very best for their future endeavors,” said ready.
Ria Sewsunker, who obtained eight distinctions, said it was not without a tremendous effort on her part.
“I plan on perusing a career in health sciences. I am eager to embark on the next chapter,” she said.
Kezlyn Govender also achieved eight distinctions and plans to study computer science at the University of Pretoria.
“It was a stressful year with everything going on, but I found ways to focus on more positive things,” she said.
The atmosphere at Durban North College was no different.
The school obtained a 98.1 pass rate which its principal, Alan Norton, said he was proud of. A total of 53 learners wrote the exam.
“The matric class of 2021 can be extremely proud of themselves. I wish them all the best in the future. May they follow their dreams and succeed,” he said.
