Worker falls through roof in Briardene

The industrial accident occurred at about 11:00 today (Tuesday, January 11).

A WORKER, in his 30s, sustained multiple injuries after he fell through the roof of a business in a Briardene.

Netcare 911’s spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said the worker hit the floor head first.

“Reports indicate that a worker, changing metal roof sheeting, had fallen through at a joint between the two sheets,” he said.

Herbst added the patient fell approximately 12m.

“The patient had worn a fall protection harness which was connected to a lead line. However, the lead line was not under tension. The man sustained polytraumatic injuries and was stabilised on scene. He was transported to hospital,” he said.
