Glen Anil beauty takes the world by ‘storm’ with pageantry

The financial advisor told Northglen News that this pageant was different to others that she had competed in.

STORM Hurlbatt of Glen Hills scooped the title of Face of Miss International SA title, a beauty pageant held at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg recently.

“I was so nervous when they mentioned my name in the top 10. Then, when I made it to the top five, I was in awe. I was so shocked. Although I didn’t win the main title as I had hoped, I am grateful to have made it this far,” she said.

“I was 4th runner-up and the Face of Miss International SA because my social media management was at the top of its game,” said the financial advisor.

Hurlbatt, who was raped as a child and again as a teenager, wants to use pageantry as a platform to address gender-based violence.

“This pageant was different. I met some incredible women with amazing stories. They were all so passionate and highly educated. We all had the same aim, which is to make a change in the world,” she said.

Leading up to the main event, Hurlbatt said she enjoyed the various workshops hosted by the organisers of the event.

“I attended a fitness, health and nutrition, ramp walking and a women in business workshop,” said Hurlbatt.

If there is anything she took from the Miss International SA pageant it was the experience of meeting a group of amazing women.

“Although we were super competitive and we all wanted the title, we all wanted it for the same reason, which is to spread a message,” said a passionate Hurlbatt.

“There were mishaps along the way, but we helped each other. It was beautiful.”

Hurlbatt, who has a BA degree in brand building and business management, said that when she’s not talking about money matters, she manages her Facebook and Instagram page, Make Noise, which she launched in November 2020.

Make Noise invites victims of abuse to share their stories.

Next on the cards for Hurlbatt is the Miss Globe pageant, which she is ecstatic about.

The Miss International SA pageant will be aired on Mzansi Magic soon.
