Tour Durban this festive season

These wonderful sites are not only perfect for day visits, but camping is available too.

IF you enjoy spending time outdoors, then consider going on one of the many tours hosted by Green Corridors. Experience some of the most gorgeous picnic and tourist sites that the province has to offer.

Green Corridors, a non-profit organisation that cares for the glorious green spaces around Durban, offers some exceptional experiences that are easily accessible for socially distanced outdoor gatherings.

Hop on a Green Corridors shuttle bus, which leaves from Durban’s GreenHub on the Umgeni River (near Blue Lagoon), and takes guests on the following excursions:

• Wild Enanda/Enanda Dam trip. It includes uMzinyathi Falls, the sacred Rastafarian Caves, a trip with Canoeing eNanda Adventures, and eNanda Mountain. Lunch is available at eNanda at your own expense.

• Mqeku Tubing and Bum Slide is where you’ll visit the Valley of a 1000 Hills, while enjoying the amazing views en route. Ride the bum slide, take a tube ride or chill at the shady picnic site. Carry a picnic lunch and visit the exquisite Mqeku Picnic Site.

• Durban’s waterfalls, from Paradise Valley Falls to Kloof Falls and the uMzinyathi Falls. This is perfect for keen photographers, nature lovers and water babies. Carry your own lunch.

• Birdwatchers and peace seekers will love the Mnini Canoe and Hike Trip. Lunch is available at eNanda at your own expense. Enjoy a day of leisure, drifting along the Mnini Dam shores, or hiking through the deep river gorges.

The cost is R400 per person, with a minimum of four people on the tour run, and inclused shuttle bus transport, guides and entrance fees.

All sites have a nominal entrance fee.

Camping and activity fees vary from site to site. This helps to drive the local tourism economy in these areas.
