One injured in Glen Anil fire

More firefighters have been called in to help douse the flames.

A FIRE, which broke out at an auto repairs shop in Cypress Drive in Glen Anil, has left one person injured with minor burns.

Kyle van Reenen, the Emer-G-Med spokesperson, said paramedics, together with eThekwini Fire Department, reported to the scene at about 13:00 today.

“The injured person will be taken to hospital. Paramedics and firefighters are still on scene and there have been no fatalities,” he said.

Marshall Security’s spokesperson, Tyron Powell said additional firefighters had to be called out to the scene as the fire was out of control.

“Staff and members of the public were evacuated from the premises. Occupants of the surrounding buildings also had to evacuate,” said Powell.

The scene is still active as firefighters are trying to extinguish the blaze.

The relevant authorities will be investigating.
