Driver bitten in road rage incident in uMhlanga

The suspect fled before police arrived on scene.

AN e-hailing driver has opened a case of assault after he was bitten in a road rage incident on Aurora Drive in uMhlanga.

According to Captain Raymond Deokaran, spokesperson for the Durban North police station, the incident occurred on Sunday, November 28.

“The incident occurred at about 12:30. The victim, an e-hailing driver, was parked on Aurora Drive when the driver of a brown Toyota Corolla crashed into the back of him. The victim confronted the driver of the Corolla, who was allegedly drunk, and an altercation broke out.

“During the altercation, the suspect bit the victim on the right arm before fleeing the scene. No arrests have yet been made, however, we have noticed a spike in road rage incidents in the lead-up to the festive season,” Deokaran said.

He urged motorists not to react to provocation, and to stay away from erratic drivers.

“As motorists, we all have a responsibility and numerous opportunities to cool the emotional temperature on the roads,” he said.
