Residents assaulted in Effingham Heights house robbery

The suspects were seen fleeing the scene in a white BMW sedan.

FOUR armed suspects stormed an Effingham Heights family home on Tuesday morning at about 07:00.

The spokesperson of Swift Private Security, Sanveer Sooklall, who responded to the incident, said the residents were assaulted during the house robbery.

“The incident took place on West View Road. According to the resident, four armed suspects entered their home and demanded their valuables, while assaulting them. The suspects disconnected their alarm system before fleeing with their valuables.

“They made off with TV, jewellery, cellphones and other items. Netcare 911 paramedics and the Independent Crisis Team (ICT) attended the scene and assisted and treated the victims,” he said.

Sooklall added that there has been a spike in crime in the area in recent weeks.

On Tuesday last week, four suspects, armed with handguns, hijacked an Effingham Road resident. The man was unharmed in the incident.
