DA retains wards 35 and 36

DA members, Shontel de Boer and Nicole Bollman have been re-elected as ward councillors for their respective areas.

THE votes have been tallied and the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) candidates, Nicole Bollman and Shontel de Boer, will remain the councillors for Ward 35 and 36 respectively.

Millions of South Africans voted in the Local Government Elections in South Africa on November 1. Speaking to Northglen News, Bollman said she was ecstatic about the win.

“The people of Ward 35 have spoken. I am so happy that the community has put their trust in me once again,” she said.

Bollman added the votes were ‘unanimous’ and it was evident that it’s the DA that residents have faith in. She ended with 86% of the votes in the ward.

Shontel de Boer will serve Ward 36 as councillor.

De Boer, who took over the reins from Shaun Ryley in November last year after a by-election, scooped the ward again.

Speaking to Northglen News, she said she was elated to serve Ward 36 as councillor for the next five years.

“I am glad that the community have put their trust in me again,” she said.

De Boer, who ended with 82.44% of the vote, added that although there has been improvement in Durban North, there are still issues that needed attention.

“I will continue to serve the Ward 36 community to the best of my abilities, and I will ensure that I strive to do even better this term,” added de Boer.
