Man shot in Kenville robbery

It is believed the man was shot through a window after witnessing his father being attacked.

TEMPLE Road in Kenville turned into a crime scene this morning after a shooting occurred.

According to provincial SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, the vicitm, a 28-year-old man was shot in the stomach as he tried to stop the eight suspects who had robbed a home. 

“One of the victims was exiting his yard in Temple road, Kenville area when two vehicles blocked him in the drive way. Eight suspects, four of which were armed exited their vehicles and forced him back into the house where they held the victim and his family up.

“The suspects ransacked the house and A 28-year-old male victim was shot in the stomach when he tried to intercept the robbers. He was rushed to hospital for medical attention and a case of attempted murder and robbery has been opened by Greenwood park SAPS for investigation,” Mbele said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, said reports indicate that the adult male was shot through a window by gunmen after he witnessed his father being attacked in a driveway. 

“Medics assessed the patient and found that he had a single gunshot wound to his chest. He was treated on scene and, once stabilised, was rushed to hospital,” he added.
