According to Eskom, there has been a further shortage of generation capacity and this will force the country to move to stage four from 12:00 until 05:00 on Friday.

The country can expect to return to stage two load shedding until 05:00 on Saturday.

“Over the past 24 hours a unit each at Madupi, Kusile and Matla power stations tripped while a unit each at Lethabo and Arnot power station were forced to shut down,” said Eskom in a statement.

Eskom said that load shedding is only implemented as a last resort.

“The implementation of stage four load shedding is therefore, no cause for alarm as the power system remains to be effectively controlled,” the statement read.
