Pedestrian killed on Athlone Bridge

It is alleged that the man ran across the road and was struck by two vehicles.

A MAN died after he was hit by two cars on Athlone Bridge in Durban North on Friday night. One of the motorists was also injured.

The pedestrian, believed to be approximately 35 years old, was declared dead on scene by Emer-G-Med paramedics.

“He was struck by two motor vehicles on the M4 Athlone Bridge just before 22:00 on Friday night,” said Emer-G-Med spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen.

“It is alleged the man ran across the road and was struck by both vehicles that then collided, leaving the pedestrian dead and one motorist with moderate injuries,” he said.

The motorist was treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to hospital.
