BUTTERY Road in uMgeni Park turned into a crime scene this morning after a motorist was shot twice during an attempted hijacking.
Marshall Security was alerted to the shooting incident, by a member of the public, at about 11:30.

The security company’s armed response officers and special operation team members believe the driver of a Toyota Tazz was approached by two suspects, one of whom was armed with a gun.
“They attempted to hijack the driver. During the incident, the motorist was shot twice and the suspects managed to flee with the victim’s cellphone and wallet,” said Marshall Security’s spokesperson, Tyron Powell.
Members of Marshall Security’s special operation team members stabilised the victim before Netcare 911 paramedics took over. The victim was rushed to a nearby government hospital.
Two spent cartridges were found at the scene. SAPS was in attendance.
The two suspects fled in the direction of a nearby informal settlement and are still at large.
