King Shaka drug trafficker sentenced to 10 years imprisonment

The suspect, who had cocaine in his possession, was arrested at King Shaka International Airport in December 2014.

IBRAHIM Cook was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for dealing in drugs. The sentence was handed down at the Verulam Magistrate’s Court last week.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) spokesperson, Captain Simphiwe Mhlongo, said Cook was arrested at King Shaka International Airport in December 2014.

“He was arrested after information of drug trafficking was received by Hawks members from the Durban Serious Organised Crime Investigation. Cook was coming from Sao Paulo in Brazil when he was found in possession of 1kg of cocaine powder to the street value of approximately R300 000. He appeared in court several times until he was sentenced at the end of September,” Mhlongo said.
