Greenwood Park mother wants son’s body exhumed for family burial

“I want to give my son the proper burial that he deserves. So many things broke my heart about the way Dylan's disappearance was handled and one of them is that he had a pauper's funeral,”

THE mother of a missing Greenwood Park teenager, who later found out that he had died the weekend he went missing, is in the process of getting her son’s body exhumed.

Lindray Sibilant told Northglen News that the investigating officer from KwaMashu SAPS has given her a grave number and is assisting her with applying to the Durban High Court for Dylan’s body to be exhumed.

“I want to give my son the proper burial that he deserves. So many things broke my heart about the way Dylan’s disappearance was handled and one of them is that he had a pauper’s funeral,” she said.

Sibilant added that she has applied for a legal aid attorney and is waiting for that to be confirmed.

“I was told it would take a few weeks to get a lawyer. Thereafter, I am not sure how long the entire process will be,” she said.

Fisher, who lived in Greenwood Park, went missing a few days after his 19th birthday in 2019 and his family had been searching for him since then.

About two weeks ago, through the help of a private investigator, police told Sibilant that her son died on July 27 in a car accident on the KwaMashu Highway.

She also learnt that the driver of the car also lived in Greenwood Park and was known to the family and, because nobody came forward to identify Dylan, he was buried three months later.
