The ulti-mutt way to celebrate Book Week with SPCA

Youngsters can enter the SPCA Book Week Challenge on the SPCA website (under the book week competition) and stand a chance to win fun prizes.

THE Durban & Coastal SPCA celebrates National Book Week which takes place from September 6 to 12. The campaign aims to encourage children to value books and reading and the SPCA hopes to add to the fun by challenging children to read out loud to a beloved pet.

Youngsters can enter the SPCA Book Week Challenge on the SPCA website (under the book week competition) and stand a chance to win fun prizes.

Entries are just R50 each, said marketing manager, Tanya Fleischer.

“All proceeds from the competition go towards the cost of caring for neglected, ill treated and unwanted animals at our SPCA. So you’ll help other dogs and cats just by entering the competition.

“There are some fun prizes to be won. And everyone gets a unique e-book, Fruitbat, the dog who dreamed she could fly, by Denise Murray, to start reading right away. You’ll also get a Book Log to keep a record of how many pages or books your child reads during the week,” Fleischer said.

She added she also has a hard copy of the book to giveaway to a lucky entrant.
