Soroptimist International (SI) calls on aspiring poets
SI Durban is calling all aspiring poets and poetesses and essay writers to enter its Second Fine Young Creatives Competition before September 1.
IF English is one of your favourite subjects, and your educator has complimented your essay and poetry writing on more than one occasion, entering the Soroptimist International (SI) Durban poetry competition may be just for you.
SI Durban is calling all aspiring poets and poetesses and essay writers to enter its Second Fine Young Creatives Competition before September 1.
The theme, and aptly so, is “What does PEACE mean to you?”
“Our Fine Young Creatives Competition is in its second year. It began because we wanted to create a space for children to exercise and display their creativity and talent. We at SI Durban are extremely passionate about literacy and education and found this is a wonderful way to encourage young adults to tap into their more creative side Our theme for this year’s competition is PEACE, a very relevant topic and we look forward to reading the entries which we receive,” said the club’s president, Jennene Naidu.
She encourages learners to participate in the competition for which there is an amazing prize for the finest young creatives.
The competition is open for juniors between the ages of eight and 12 and seniors between the ages of 13 and 18.
Entries can be emailed to info@soroptomist.durban
Those entering must send their full names and surname, age, school and contact details with their entries.
