Mount Edgecombe garden refuse site reopens

Residents are permitted to dispose of garden waste not exceeding one bakkie load per week for free.

THE eThekwini Municipality has reopened the Mount Edgecombe Garden Refuse Site following its closure due to the social unrest more than a week ago. 

Municipal spokesperson, Lindiwe Khuzwayo, said the site was fully operational by midday on Monday, July 26.

“This was after the site was temporarily closed due to a factory burning in the precinct. Residents are permitted to dispose of garden waste not exceeding one bakkie load per week for free at any of the Durban Solid Waste garden refuse sites.

“The public is reminded to observe all Covid-19 protocols when visiting the sites and that the ‘No mask, no entry’ rule remains applicable,” she said.
