Apart from the numerous WhatsApp groups that have been formed to communicate plans and strategies to block off the different areas, residents have also offered to make food and beverages to help nourish those protecting the area.

“IT’S amazing the way the ward 35 community has come together and assisted each other,” says the area’s ward councillor, Nicole Bollman.

Apart from the numerous WhatsApp groups that have been formed to communicate plans and strategies to block off the different areas, residents have also offered to make food and beverages to help nourish those protecting the area.

“If you are organising a collection point for food and drinks to be fetched, please do so in the safest way possible. Do not give out your home address. Rather drop off the goods at a patrol point or make arrangements for one of the people patrolling to fetch them for you,” she said.

She also urged residents to stay home and not drive around their areas unnecessarily.

“Only go out if you have to. We need to keep our roads as quiet as possible for SAPS and emergency services to get through should the need arise,” she added.

Bollman commended all those involved in keeping Durban North and surrounds as safe as possible.
