WARD 34 residents joined forces on Monday night, and are using all resources to keep the looters out of their community.

WhatsApp groups, chats and forums have been implemented to ensure the safety of residents, this according to the area’s ward councillor, Shontel de Boer.

She said the area is on lockdown and residents, together with safety and security personnel, are doing their best to keep everyone safe.

“People also need food and other supplies so I am trying my best to get one of the grocery stores to open so people can at least purchase 15 essential items,” she said.

WhatsApp groups have also been formed to assist patrollers with meals and beverages. On a separate incident, de Boer said the water supply to Parkhill area has been disrupted due to a burst pipe.

“At this stage I can’t comment on whether it is sabotage or not, however residents in the area must expect delays in service delivery as I haven’t been able to contact anyone at the City,” she said.
