WATCH: Looting in Cornubia diffused

A helicopter was seen circulating and the person mentioned that tear gas was dispersed.

A VIDEO of hundreds of protestors trying to gain access to Makro Cornubia is being circulated on social media this morning.

The person recording the clip mentions at the end that the protestors were also trying to gain access to a neighbouring warehouse, believed to be that of a popular electronics manufacturer.

A helicopter is seen circulating and the person mentions that tear gas was dispersed.

Brian Leroni, Senior Vice President Group Corporate Affairs for Massmart, said the situation was diffused.

“As at 09:50 our security team and the SAPS have been able to fully secure and ensure the safety of the Makro Cornubia store,” he said.
