Family seeks information about fatal M41 accident

The incident happened on the M41 on June 9, a few days after Quwin Thulsi had turned 21, in the vicinity of uMhlanga Ridge.

THE family of a 21-year-old man who was killed in a tragic accident on the M41 has made a desperate appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The fatal accident unfolded on June 9 while Quwin Thulsi was travelling to college on the M4 (heading in the direction of the M4 freeway), just days after he celebrated his 21st birthday.

Thulsi, who hailed from Tongaat, was a second-year Bcom Accounting student at Varsity College.

He sustained head injuries and was taken to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital before being transferred to Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital later that evening.

The family raised funds to have him admitted at St Augustine’s Hospital on June 11 but he tragically died. Following the accident, police opened a culpable homicide case.

Tashnee Bhika, Thulsi’s cousin, described him as a humble and family-orientated person.

Quwin was dedicated to doing seva (selfless service) and devotional work. My family and I are appealing for anyone with information; footage to come forward. There are many businesses in the area. If your business has cameras facing the road, please contact me.” Bhika can be contacted on 065 855 0103.
