Dog stoned in Avoca house break-in

FATHER’S Day ended in dismay for an Avoca family who came home to a ransacked house.

The family’s dog was also stoned during the housebreaking and was taken to the vet for treatment.

Swift Security spokesperson, Sanveer Sooklall, said the company was notified about the incident via the WhatsApp neighbourhood group.

“The residents returned to their home at 14:30 to find their home broken into and ransacked. Upon investigation, it was found that the suspects forced entry through the bathroom window,” he said.

“The residents also advised us that their dog was stoned by the suspects. The dog is fine and doing well after receiving treatment,” he added.

The suspects fled the scene with jewellery, gaming consoles, a laptop and other items.

A full inventory will be done to identify if any other items were taken.

“At this stage there is no information if the suspects arrived on foot or in a vehicle,” said Sooklall.
