Local teen uses her SPAR voucher for change

In all, Cheyénne Pinn has now collected, packed and distributed more than 500 appreciation packs.

DANVILLE Park Girls’ High School learner, Cheyénne Pinn, who was the recent winner of the SPAR Superstar competition, has used her voucher to further her cause.

The Durban North resident has been putting smiles on the faces of frontline workers with appreciation packs she has collected since the end of last year.

The 14-year-old said she wanted to show appreciation for and thank frontline workers in the Covid-19 pandemic by spreading positivity and love to those living through the worldwide pandemic.

Pinn, through donations and help from the local community, has put together hundreds of appreciation packs consisting of three items, a water (or energy drink), a coffee sachet and a chocolate (or sometimes a moisturising cream) which are then distributed by NPO, the Law Enforcement Foundation (LEF). Each care pack also has a message that reads ‘Thank you to our Superhero-Here’s something small to say a big thank you.’

In all she has now collected, packed and distributed more than 500 appreciation packs.

“I always had the idea that if I did win the SPAR Superstar competition I would use the voucher to purchase more items for the care packs. Thanks to the R300 voucher I was able to organise 20 more packs for the frontline workers. I’ve also had positive feedback from other people around the country who thanked me for the idea and said they’d started something similar elsewhere,” she explained.
