Local schoolgirl dies after Durban CBD shooting
Three people were killed in the shooting which occurred on Pickering Street in the Durban CBD.
A NORTHLANDS Girls’ High School learner was among three people killed in a shooting in the Durban CBD on Saturday.
In a statement on issued on Sunday, the school offered its condolences to the matriculant’s family.
“Northlands Girls’ High School is saddened by the loss of Grade 12 learner, Bianca Thandroyen. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this difficult time. May she rest in peace,” the statement read.

While the motive for the shooting is unknown, PT Alarms spokesperson, Dhevan Govindasamy, said his officers responded to a shooting on Pickering Street.
“PT Alarms tactical units and PT Ambulance Service responded to a shooting incident on Pickering Street in the Durban CBD. On arrival paramedics found that a white Golf 7 was shot at by unknown gunmen.
“Two men were declared deceased while a 13-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. A female teenager was also injured. They were treated and transported to hospital for further care. The motive for the shooting is unknown and is subject to police investigation,” he said.
According to reports, Bianca died in hospital.
